Suggested Patterns:  Caddis Poopah #16, Hot Wire Caddis #14-16, Dirty Birds #14-16, Taylor’s Gut #16-18, Copper Johns #16-18, Hare’s Ears #14-18, Bird of Prey Olive #16, Kyle’s BH CNC #16-18, X-Caddis #14-18, Light Cahill #14-16, Blond Wulf #12-16, Black Ant #14-18, Lucent Wing Hex, Poly Wing Hex, DeFrank’s Wiggle Hex Nymph,

The fishing has remained pretty good over the past few days. The water temps in the AM are cooling off at night due to the cooler night temps. The fishing still been pretty good despite the water being very low. The bass fishing has been great lately too. Over the next week or so that may be the best option unless you’re hitting some of the small streams around. The fish are very spooky in lots of these streams so longer casts, lighter tippet and smaller flies will all play a roll in getting more strikes. Focus on the primary water and skip the shallower stuff. The fish will all be stacked up in the deeper shaded holes on those smaller streams. The Hex fishing has continued to be good but it has been late. Don’t be surprised if you don’t see any bugs hatching until 8:30 or even later. Before the bugs start hatching you can strip a Wiggle Hex nymph underneath the surface or on a sink tip or full sink line. Brown wooly buggers and larger Pheasant tails also work on the still water lakes.  The weather forecast over the next week isn’t looking fantastic for trout fishing but the night time temps are going to continue to stay cool which will help us out a little bit. Now we just need some serious rain! We’ve been picking up lots of fish on dry flies on the larger streams early in the morning as well as plenty of fish nymphing.
