We’ve had a few gorgeous days! Feels like fall outside, and the fishing has been unbelievable! We fished some id sized tribs over the past few days along with the main lamoille and it’s been great! The Lamoille river fished as good as it possibly could, one of our trips this morning landed over 30 fish, most of them were stockies, but they were all super healthy looking!!! We did run into some wild fish as well which also were in great shape. Access points, and the overall structure of the river have changed quite a bit so it’s kind of like fishing an entirely new river. We have not ventured onto the Winooski, it’s getting close to being fishable, hopefully we won’t get that much rain over the next few days!
We’ve experienced a couple insane flying ant hatches lately, always cool to see how many fish actually inhabit certain pools. We’ve seen upwards of 25 fish rising at one time in a pool we woulda thought there might’ve been 6 or 8 fish in. The Lamoille fished best with streamers but we did well nymphing and still got a handful of fish on dries, water temps were in the mid to upper 50s this am, it couldn’t have gotten much better.
The small streams are still fishing well too, they’re still way higher than normal and the fish have been super aggressive, dries have continued to be very effective! Regardless of where you end up, be sure to get out on the water. The fishing is as good as it gets! Especially for this time of the year.
Last but not least, mark your calendars for our High Water Sale, September 8th, 9th and 10th! There will be giveaways, sales on almost everything in the shop along with Free Demos on Saturday!
