Not a ton has changed lately. Water temps are still pretty warm on a lot of the trout streams but some are in good shape. Go smaller and higher and you’ll find cooler water. The waters super low still but the fish are still there! Small flies, longer leaders and longer casts are going to increase your catch rate. Stay out of the water and try to stay quiet. The fish are spookier than you think. We’ve still been getting a good amount of fish lately. Some trout, we’ve been taking advantage of some great river bass fishing opportunities as well. The Lower Lamoille has been pretty good lately. More of a morning and evening bite as things seemed to slow down for us the other day around 10am when the sun broke out. More action on topwater than on streamers which is always nice. We dead drifted hoppers and twitched gurglers, both of which caught fish. The hoppers got a lot of fall fish as well, where the gurgler only caught bass. Nothing crazy big but river bass put an awesome bend in the rod regardless of their size. We have been seeing some trico spinner falls on a few rivers between 8 and 11am. It seems as though every fish in the river feeds on those tiny dries. Makes for fun fishing with 7x and a #22 dry. Not something we get to do too much in VT.

The extended forecast isn’t looking great for trout fishing but the warm water fishing should remain good. We’ve got some rain in the forecast for this evening and tomorrow which will help, then next week it’s looking like it’s going to get a little hot and muggy. Bust out the canoe, 7wt and poppers and go after some bass! Good luck to everyone getting out this weekend!
