Things are slowly starting to drop from the rain we got the other night, which ended up being a lot! The Winooski is still shot and will be for probably four or five more days but the water temps everywhere have cooled off quite a bit which is great. Lots of the smaller streams are still a little high but clear and definitely fishable. The fish may be more apt to take a nymph or streamer right now in the higher flows but if you find a stream that got less rain or dropped a bit quicker a dry fly is definitely a viable option. The Dog river wouldn’t be a bad idea for those of you feeling up to a challenge and maybe a huge fish! The next few days are going to be in the mid 80s but the night temps are going to be in the mid 50’s which will keep things a bit cooler. Fall’s definitely in the air right now and it’s getting us pretty excited for what’s to come!! I’ve even seen a few trees that are starting to change color. Things should be pretty good over the next three or fours days and lots of different streams will be fishing quite well! Good luck getting out there over the next few days.
