Well, the fishing the past few days was pretty good. Things cooled off quite a bit and we were able to fish in spots we hadn’t been able to for a while due to high water temps. We got a large portion of the fish on a yellow soft hackle fished behind a larger grass hopper pattern. Other fish were taken fishing nymphs and some were taken on dries as well. It looks like things are going to warm up a bit this week and the temps are not going to be dropping at night like they had been. Hopefully in the next week or so things will turn to fall and stay that way. Consistent cool weather is going to be welcomed by all the anglers around with open arms. Until then, if you’re trying to get out on some of the bigger rivers keep an eye on the night temps, if it’s in the low to mid 50’s the mid reaches of the bigger rivers like the Lamoille and Winooski should be ok to fish in the morning. The best way to be sure though is to bring a thermometer with you and check. The further up you go the more likely you’re going to find cooler water. Be sure to mark your calendars for next Saturday for the 2nd Annual VT Fly Fishing Show. Things will kick off around 9am with all the vendors being present, fly tyers getting things going and much more. At 9:30am we’ll be doing a FREE casting clinic until 10:30am. After that we’ll be doing a FREE mending class which will be done on the river. Use our gear and hop in our van and head on down to the river with us. That will be running from 11:30 to 12:30. The weather looks like it’s going to be pretty awesome too some come down and hangout! Trapps will be there as well serving up some incredible food and some awesome beer!
